The Memorial
Created as a Tribute to Children, the memorial sits along the edge of the Ohio River looking back at the Pittsburgh skyline. The statue itself shows Rodgers tying his shoes, as he did at the start of every episode of “Mister Rodgers.”
From the street, you are greeted with a small path that is filled with trees and plants. In the spring, flowers are planted all around the memorial making it very picturesque. As you get closer to the memorial, various songs Fred Rodgers created are played over the speakers. The memorial plaza itself is quite small, so may be crowded at times during warm weather.

While the hustle and bustle may be busy, take a step back and reflect, relax, and take in the view. This beautiful memorial is a slice of tranquility in Pittsburgh. If you didn’t grow up watching Mr. Rodgers, It is still worth the stop for the view.
“How many times have you noticed that it’s the little quiet moments in the midst of life that seem to give the rest extra-special meaning?”
Fred Rodgers
